About the McCaw School of Dance

Our History

The McCaw School of Dance has been established in the Rossendale Valley since the early 1980s and continues to provide the highest quality of dance training to children of all ages. Throughout the years the McCaw School of Dance has seen hundreds of students grow in both confidence and ability as they learn to develop their dance techniques.

We are proud to maintain a 100% pass rate in all RAD and ISTD exams, with many of our students achieving distinctions.

Charlotte trained at Stella Mann College of Dance in London for 3 years and Preston’s Dance Academy for a further 2 years qualifying with a Diploma in Performing Arts and a Teaching Diploma. She has also gained her Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Teaching Certificate (Distinction) and her Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) Diploma in Dance Education, Modern and Licentiate Tap.
Charlotte also gained a BA Hons. in professional practice in dance from Middlesex University.
Charlotte has been part of the McCaw School of Dance since she was 4 years old and started teaching at the school in 2005. Charlotte took up the position of Principal and Owner of the school in 2010. Charlotte has been teaching children and adults of all ages in the Valley since 2005, but prior to this Charlotte was a professional dancer.

Charlotte is an award winning choreographer (NODA) and has choreographed many shows for various local theatre companies.

Michelle Young

Michelle spent her formative years at McCaw School of Dance from the age of eighteen months before successfully auditioning to train at The Hammond School as a full time vocational student.

 

During her training, Michelle developed a love for drama and at the age of eighteen moved to London to train at the prestigious Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, gaining a BA Hons performance studies.

 

Following her training, Michelle worked as a professional actress on tv programmes such as Doctors, Blackpool and Ghost Squad. After taking time out to travel Michelle discovered her love of teaching and, alongside working at a theatre school and as guest choreographer at Whittaker Dance & Drama Centre, she also trained to be a full time primary school teacher gaining her PGCE in primary education.

 

Today Michelle teaches full time in a Preston primary school and as the RAD Ballet teacher at Whittaker’s in Blackpool. Michelle is also qualified in Acro Arts and holds registered teacher status with the RAD.


Michelle is delighted to be returning to the McCaw family on this exciting new adventure!

Rosie Macaree

Rosie has been dancing since the age of three, and as a child, performed in many competitions, shows and pantomimes as well as being a member of Tap Attack.

 

Rosie went on to complete her professional training at Preston College Dance where she gained a BA(Hons) in Dance Performance, Teaching and Choreography, along with ISTD DDE qualifications in Ballet, Tap and Modern.

Rosie also achieved ISTD Advanced 2 Modern and Tap as well as Advanced 1 Ballet. Rosie is now looking forward to a career in teaching.

Anya Grzebieniowski

Anya is going to be working at McCaw School of Dance as one of our holiday workshop leaders. Anya has been workshop leader on many of McCaw School of Dance Summer Schools. She is highly talented, amazing with the children and has lots of professional performance experience under her belt already!

 

Anya holds a fully enhanced DBS, first aid qualification
and her Safeguarding Levels 1 & 2.

 

Anya trained at McCaw School of Dance from the age 7 years old and is excited to be joining the teaching staff as holiday workshop leader. 


At the age of 18, Anya was accepted into the prestigious Bird College Conservatoire of Dance and Musical Theatre in Kent. Anya's goal is to be a professional dancer and performer on Cruises and The West End.

 

With Charlotte as her teacher, Anya achieved her Advanced 2 Tap - passed with Distinction, Intermediate Modern - passed with Distinction and Intermediate Ballet - passed with a merit.
